Weavey Studio - How to Make a Braided Wristlet

A braided wristlet is a stylish and functional accessory that you can make yourself with just a few simple materials. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to create a braided wristlet that you can wear on its own or use to hold your keys, phone, or other small items.

Materials:

Leather cord (three pieces, each 2 feet long)

Keyring or lobster clasp

Scissors

Tape (optional)

Step 1: Cut your cords

Cut three pieces of leather cord, each 2 feet long. You can use different colors or types of cord to create a unique look.

Step 2: Tie a knot

Tie a knot at one end of the cords, leaving about 1 inch of cord below the knot. This will be the base of your braided wristlet.

Step 3: Braid the cords

Take the three cords and start braiding them together. You can use a simple three-strand braid or experiment with different braiding techniques. To keep the braid tight and even, tape the base of the cords to a flat surface or hold them in place with your fingers as you braid.

Step 4: Finish the braid

When you reach the end of the cords, tie another knot to secure the braid. Leave about 1 inch of cord below the knot.

Step 5: Add the keyring or lobster clasp

Slide the keyring or lobster clasp onto the cord and tie a knot to secure it in place. Trim the ends of the cords to your desired length.

Step 6: Finish your braided wristlet

Comb out the braid to give it a more textured look. Your braided wristlet is now ready to use!

Tips:

Choose a leather cord that is sturdy and flexible.

Practice your braiding technique on a small piece of cord before you start your project to get the hang of the technique.

Use a keyring or lobster clasp that is sturdy and can handle the weight of your keys or other items.

We hope you enjoyed this tutorial on how to make a braided wristlet. Happy crafting!
